Attuning Station

A collaboration with Kate Daughdrill and Phreddy Wischusen at Second Street Gallery, Charlottesville | July 1-30, 2016

Attuning Station invited viewers to position themselves on handmade cushions underneath a suspended, plant-laden dome, while hidden speakers played an ambient musical composition by Phreddy Wischusen. The installation created a space apart from the gallery—enveloping the viewer in the olfactory and aural experience of being in a field.

The plant material came from a farm outside of Orange, Virginia. Some of the wildflowers and grasses are indigenous to Virginia, and some were introduced to the area as features of colonization, human migration, and farming practices.
